Why Train With Us?
- We founded the Training Rim in 2008 because we don’t want to waste our time or yours. We want to do it right and we want to have fun doing it.
Through our experience in chain gyms and with independent trainers, we found that people did not receive enough guidance, instruction or support - not even close. Gym dropout rates, injury rates and our current state of societal health continue to support what we believed and preached years ago. What was then, and is still being disseminated as common sense by gyms was misleading at best, and sometimes harmful.
We wanted to build a facility for those who understood and saw the status quo just wasn't working. (That seemed, and still seems, quite obvious to us.) We built a facility not based on following the conveyor belt crowd and what the marginally educated said to do, but based upon what science, logic, data, and experience pointed us towards. We wanted to build a facility for those who understand it's not quite as simple as treadmills for weight loss, nautilus machines and benches for strength. It's quite obvious to us as we hope it is to you, that getting results is more complicated than that. That each person needs to be treated as an individual with their own set of goals and circumstances, and their exercise program should reflect that.
We built a facility that maximizes time and results. We learned early on that we all are short on time, and we need to make the few hours per week we do work out to be productive - not "busy" or "active" - productive. We write programs, individual workouts and choose specific exercises based upon whether or not they'll have a big impact on results. Anything that doesn't is omitted.
We built the TR because we feel the experience can and should be fun. Programs and workouts should be taken seriously, but people should not take themselves seriously.
It should have trainers who look out for the clients' well-being, not the trainers' ego. We have fostered an environment of support - not shouting, condescension, or mockery. We look to support and guide as a team, but...
...we don't hold hands like sycophantic cheerleaders. We've learned that support, teamwork and guidance only work if they're based on truth and that the "shoot the messenger types" never got results. Commitment only works if it's a two way street.
We believe our chances of becoming swimsuit models or professional athletes is long gone. But we're not going to let that stop us from being the best version of ourselves possible. We believe we can and will look, feel and perform our best again.
We want people to have access to the level of training they deserve. I want to improve the quality of life for busy adults who want to look, feel and perform their best again.
We founded the Training Rim because we believe your problem can be solved. Whatever and wherever your starting point is, we can meet you there and together formulate a plan to get you where you want to be.
We've been doing it successfully with people like you for a long time.
Our goal is to find exercisers who also have learned what we've learned. This way we can work together as a team so we can all succeed. We're looking for teammates who are in pursuit of the same goal. We're not interested in looking for a sweeter deal - we're only interested in win-win relationships.
We want to do it right, and we want it to be fun.
